About the Alamodome – The San Antonio Alamodome opened on May 15, 1993, at a cost of approximately $186 million. The Alamodome was the home of the San Antonio Spurs from 1993-2002. The Alamadome has no columns making it very comfortable for the fans. It is owned and operated by the City of San Antonio. George Strait played a concert in the Alamodome in June of 2013 setting an all-time attendance record for the largest concert ever played in San Antonio; the attendance was 73,086 people. It is the preferred venue for concerts such as Monster Jam, Disney on Ice, and the Valero Alamo Bowl.
